I am a machine learning engineer at GSK.ai, where my team builds models that enable GSK’s scientists to leverage all the world’s written knowledge for drug discovery, rather than just that which they can read on their own.
I completed my PhD at the University of Pennsylvania where I studied natural language processing (NLP) with Chris Callison-Burch. I was generously supported by the Google Ph.D. Fellowship and the AI2 Key Scientific Challenges award. I was also affiliated with the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Before deciding to research NLP full-time, I spent several years as an end user of NLP-powered technologies in the U.S. Navy and at HelloWallet. My other degrees are from the U.S. Naval Academy, Royal Holloway, and Oxford University.
